Barbara Mann is a Professor at the Jewish Theological Seminary in New York. She received her Ph.D. in Comparative Literature at the University of California, Berkeley, in 1997. Professor Mann is the author of three books: The Object of Jewish Literature: A Material History (Yale University Press, 2022), Space and Place in Jewish Studies (Rutgers University Press, 2012), and A Place in History: Modernism, Tel Aviv and the Creation of Jewish Urban Space (Stanford University Press, 2006). She has published 17 scholarly articles, including "An Apartment to Remember: Palestinian Memory in the Israeli Landscape," History & Memory (Spring 2015); "Material Visions: The Poetry and Painting of Leah Goldberg's Native Landscapes," Journal of Jewish Identity 7 (2014); "Der eko fun goles: 'The Spirit of Tel Aviv' and the Remapping of Jewish Literary History," Israel Studies (2009); and "Tel Aviv at 100: Notes twoards a New Cultural Identity," Jewish Social Studies 16 (2010).
