2022 Mountain Maryland Spring Gardening Series -Virtual

Join University of Maryland Extension in Western Maryland for this fresh and exciting series! Each session will begin at 12:15pm and last approximately 45 minutes. These sessions are free of charge, but registration is required.

March 14: Season Extension Tools- Learn about techniques to extend the time that you can grow fruits and vegetables. Tools such as cold frames, hot beds, high tunnels, and greenhouses. As well as floating row covers, succession planting ideas, and more!

Five Part Food Gardening Series- Join UME Experts as they share information about the different plant families. Growing conditions, tips & tricks, average days to harvest, common plant diseases/pests to look for and treatment suggestions. As well as varieties that have worked well in the educators' experiences.

March 28: Part 1: Brassicaceae Family including Cauliflower, Cabbage, Broccoli, Kohlrabi, Kale & More.

April 4: Part 2- Spinach, Beets, Chard & Lettuces

April 11: Part 3: Solanaceae Family - Peppers, Eggplant, Potatoes, Tomatoes, Ground Cherry, Tomatillo

April 25: Part 4: Fabaceae Family- Legumes, Beans, Peas

May 2: Part 5: Cucurbitaceae Family - Cucumbers, Squash, Pumpkins, Gourds

May 16: Easy Flowers for Integrating Into Vegetable Gardens- Including herbs with flowers that can be used for companion planting, edibles, and fresh cut arrangements.
